Small Race Preview: 2015 Where to Start Stayton K9 Run (5k or 9k)

The 3rd annual Where to Start Stayton K9 Run, is coming back to Stayton on Saturday, April 4, 2015. The 5k and 9k, which is put on by Where to Start Fitness, has both a small town feel and the ability to run with (or without) your best canine.

The 5k is mostly trails, but the 9k does feature a little meandering on city-streets. The course maps are still being finalized, mostly because there may need to be minor revisions and the directors didn’t want to put something out there only to have to change it.

The race raises money for the Stayton Police K9 program. Please keep in mind that this race is very local (i.e. potentially no chip timing), but will feature race directors very dedicated to getting people out there and moving. They have been doing small races in Stayton for the past three years. I attended one a few years back, and was impressed with the energy that they put into the event.

In addition to race, there will be an expo for dogs and humans starting at 9am, featuring food samples, raffles, and free nail clippings (for dogs).

Where to Start Stayton K9 Run (Stayton)
When: 11a
Where: Where to Start Fitness (370 N 2nd Ave  Stayton, OR 97383)

  1. Hey, thanks for writing about us. I am excited to say that we do have chip timing this year. Hurray! It’s going to be lots of fun. Our swag bags are fuller than ever, and we have even more vendors for the health fair including free frozen yogurt, chair massage and dog food samples. -Tirzah
