Race Preview: 2015 Fools Relay (or as our blogging core playfully calls it – Matt’s Relay…)

We don’t think you’re a fool to run this brand new Newport race. The name is merely because it is the weekend before April Fool’s Day. Fools Relay is a 6 hour relay for 2, 4, or 6 participants.  Or, if you’re feeling a bit like a running fool, you can also run this one solo!

This is not your usual relay with crowded vans and exchanges.  In fact, there will be no fighting traffic on this event. There is only one exchange (the start/finish area) and team mates will all be here cheering you on as you run your loop. The course will consist of 2 loops between 2.5 and 4 miles each. While the course is still being finalized, there is the promise of great views and challenging trails. Depending on the weather, this may include lots of mud. So break out your trail running gear, gather a team – unless you’re going solo, and get registered!

The goal of this relay is for your team to finish as many loops as possible within the 6 hour time frame. This sounds like a whole lot of fun!  Hanging out with fellow runners as you wait for your turn sounds much better than sitting in a smelly van driving to your next location. In fact, it sounds like one big festive race.

This race is put on by Newport’s own Ardor Adventures. They will be making sure this is a race to remember with a post-race party including music, a beer garden, and food.
