The 2nd Annual Oaks Park Oktoberfest Fun Run is Saturday, September 20th and the former Mrs. Oregon, Tara Arnold, will be the emcee. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Moving Oregon, a charity Arnold started to promote healthy living for kids with exercise and nutrition. She’ll be setting an example for the young participants, joining them for the kids run.
The race starts at Oaks Amusement Park at 7805 SW Oaks Park Way. The course follows portions of the scenic Springwater trail, with views of the river and surrounding wildlife. This event offers a 5k ($35) at 9 AM and a 1k kids run ($15) at 10:30 AM. Oktoberfest starts at 11 AM. Strollers are permitted on the course, but please be aware and considerate of others. All participants will receive a T-shirt, swag bag and entry into the Oaks Park Oktoberfest. There will be plenty of entertainment, including live music, food and a beer garden. For runners with a little spirit, there will be a costume contest. A perfect opportunity to break out the lederhosen, the best traditional German attire will win a beer stein.
Oktoberfest is a Portland fall tradition with authentic German food and beer, dancing, games for the kids and cooking demonstrations. Start the festivities with a fun run and bring the family out to make some memories. A unique run to celebrate fall and a little German culture.
