Race Preview: Great Urban Race

Great-Urban-RaceDo you know Portland?  Are you a quick-thinking problem solver?  If so, this is your chance to prove it at the Great Urban Race in Portland on April 12, 2014. Teams of 2-4 will compete by solving clues, finding their way around Portland, and completing challenges.  Each team will be given 12 clues and up to 5 hours to finish the race. (Click here for sample clues.)  The clues will be a mix of mental challenges (puzzles and brain teasers), physical challenges (games, daring activities, or even eating), and general challenges (interacting with the public.) Incorrect answers will result in a 30 minute penalty being added to your team’s time, so it’s important to read each clue carefully!

Teams are encouraged to be in costume for this festive race. (Yes, there is a prize for best costume!)  Teams should also bring a smartphone and/or digital camera, a bag to carry items, pens/pencils, and some extra cash.  Doesn’t this make you curious about what you’ll be doing?   I know I am!  My team, Street Smarts, has already registered and we cannot wait.  And, we’re pretty sure we’ve got the “street smarts” to handle this race.

To win this race, your team must complete at least 11 of the 12 clues correctly in the shortest amount of time.  If you aren’t the competitive type, take it at your own pace and just enjoy the fun!  It sounds like it’s impossible not to have fun at the Great Urban Race.  Prizes will be given to the top 3 finishers and the top 25 teams will be invited to the Great Urban Race National Championships in Vancouver, B.C.

I hope to see you and your team at the Great Urban Race.  Make sure to find Team Street Smarts and say “Hi!”  We are going to have so much fun out there!
