Run Oregon Test Kitchen: GoodSAM Foods

I’ll be honest: I’m a snacker. Working from home, it’s almost a given that my day includes a few pit stops in the pantry. While I do keep fruits and veggies on hand, I also live in a house with three young kids—so let’s just say the snack shelf isn’t always filled with the healthiest options. That’s why I’ve been really glad to have some GoodSAM Foods products in rotation lately.

GoodSAM Foods is a company rooted in doing food the right way. Their mission is grounded in offering nutrient-dense, simple foods—without all the extra junk. They work directly with farmers through regenerative agriculture and direct trade practices, and they emphasize sustainability every step of the way.

What stood out immediately about GoodSAM is the simplicity of their ingredient lists. Take their banana chips, for example. Flip over the bag, and the ingredient list says: “bananas.” That’s it. No added sugar, no preservatives—just real food. The same goes for items like their pineapple slices and plantain chips. It’s refreshing to see a health food brand that isn’t just about the marketing veneer of “healthy,” but actually walks the walk.

It’s easy to fall for snacks that look healthy on the outside, only to find a laundry list of additives when you look closer. But GoodSAM keeps it clean and transparent, which I really appreciate.

Summer Snackable Bundle

For anyone looking to test the waters, I’d recommend checking out their Summer Snackable Bundle. It comes loaded with:

  • 2x Pineapple Slices
  • 3x Banana Chips
  • 2x Sweet Plantain Chips
  • 2x Pineapple Chips
  • 3x Pineapple Chili Lime Chips
  • 5x Salted Macadamias (1 oz each)

This bundle is a great way to try a variety of their items—and honestly, I enjoyed them all. The pineapple slices were my personal favorite: crunchy, sweet, and super satisfying. And the macadamias? Absolutely clutch. These aren’t your average trail mix nuts—these are rich, buttery, and salted just right.

While I focused mostly on their snack lineup, GoodSAM also offers a broader range of items like chocolate, coffee, and other pantry staples. I didn’t get the chance to sample those (yet), but if they hold to the same standards as the snack line, I’m optimistic.

If you’re trying to clean up your snack game—whether that’s swapping out the kids’ leftover crackers or finding something to toss in your running bag for a pre, mid, or post-run boost—GoodSAM is worth a look. It’s real food made responsibly, and it actually tastes good too.

Healthy doesn’t have to be boring. And thankfully, GoodSAM proves it.
