Few institutions have done more to advance athletics than Nike, and the Bowerman Track Club in particular hosts some of the most elite athletes in the world. On July 26th, mere mortals have the opportunity to share a course with the greats by running the annual Bowerman 5k.
While the field tends to be fast (last year’s top man finished in 14:17 and the top woman in 15:58), runners and walkers of all paces are encouraged to join. This race is held on the Nike World Headquarters campus, so if you’ve ever wanted to run on those lovely private trails, this is your chance.
Runners can race individually or as a team of five in male, female, and coed divisions. All participants will receive a t-shirt, and additional prizes are awarded to the highest fundraisers for the charity partners. The Bowerman Track Club knows we are strongest when we support each other, so proceeds from the race will go toward the Achon Uganda Children’s Fund.
Everyone from children to masters can enjoy this flat and fast race. Last year, the Bowerman 5k had almost 600 participants. Since this year is the 14th annual event, it’s bound to be bigger and better than ever.
The Bowerman 5k is a perfect race to push your speed and celebrate the collective greatness of Oregon runners!
