Branching Out: A Tree-mendous Festival for Runners and Climbers Alike

Back in March, we had the chance to experience something a little different from the usual running routine — a tree climbing adventure with AdventureTerra on Lopez Island. What started as a peaceful morning run turned into an unforgettable afternoon of scaling towering trees, soaking in the canopy views, and getting a totally new perspective on the Pacific Northwest’s natural beauty.

It was a great reminder that getting outdoors doesn’t always have to mean lacing up your shoes for a long run — sometimes, it means climbing a rope and hanging out (literally) in the forest.

If that kind of crossover between movement and nature sounds like your thing, then the 2025 Tree Climbers Rendezvous at Silver Falls State Park should be on your radar. Taking place August 21–25, this multi-day festival is all about celebrating the trees — and the people who love to climb them.

It’s open to all, from seasoned arborists to total beginners, and includes hands-on climbing sessions, demos, live music, and a great community vibe.

And while the climbing is the main event, runners will find plenty to love too. Silver Falls State Park is a trail running gem, with routes that pass behind waterfalls and weave through old-growth forest. Whether you’re heading out for a long run or a shakeout before the festival fun, the trails here never disappoint.

So, bring your trail shoes, bring your curiosity, and check out this unique event that blends outdoor adventure with one of Oregon’s most scenic spots. Full details can be found here!
