Mountain Hardwear may not be the first name that comes to mind for running gear, but their Spring 2025 collection is set to change that. Featuring both updated sun-protective apparel and the all-new Trail Performance Kit, the lineup reflects a strong commitment to keeping runners protected, comfortable, and ready for anything the trail throws their way.
Crater Lake Shirt
Warm weather reminds us all to stay protected from the sun—especially as runners out on the streets and trails, and Oregon offers some of the best. When my dad was first diagnosed with cancer 15 years ago, I had a small wake-up call, but at 26, I still felt invincible. Now at 40, after his passing, the message hits harder: it’s time to take this seriously.
In May 2024, Mountain Hardwear announced a partnership with the Skin Cancer Foundation to develop a new line of sun-protective apparel—part of their ongoing commitment to keeping outdoor enthusiasts safe. The Spring 2025 launch includes both new designs and updated favorites across several collections.
One standout is the Crater Lake Short Sleeve shirt: a lightweight, breathable tee made with UPF 50+ fabric for reliable sun protection. It’s soft, moisture-wicking, and features HeiQ Mint—a plant-based odor control technology that keeps you feeling fresh on the move. It comes in 6 colorways.
Kor Airshell Jacket
Also featured in the Spring 2025 collection is Mountain Hardwear’s new Trail Performance Kit—designed with long days and big miles in mind. The kit includes shorts, shirts, and packs, but one standout piece is the new Kor Airshell Hybrid Jacket. Available in four sharp color options, this jacket strikes a perfect middle ground for lightweight outerwear.
Built for the shifting elements we know all too well in the PNW, the Kor Airshell is designed to keep runners protected from wind and light rain while remaining incredibly packable. Ideal for those end-to-end runs in Forest Park where you might pass through multiple weather systems, this jacket is easy to pull on and off as needed. It packs neatly into its own internal pocket, complete with a carabiner clip loop for easy stashing on the go.
Its performance comes from the Pertex Quantum Air fabric, which uses an open weave structure to block wind and resist light rain (thanks to a DWR finish) without overheating your body.
I’ve really enjoyed this jacket—not just for trail runs, but for everyday wear. It performs beautifully on the move, and looks sharp enough for casual outings too. I’ve worn it out a few times and felt great in it every time.
Other key features include:
- Raglan sleeves and underarm gussets for enhanced mobility
- Two zippered hand pockets
- Highly packable design with built-in stash pocket
- Elastic binding at cuffs and hem to seal in warmth
It’s a do-it-all piece that fits right in with the rest of Mountain Hardwear’s thoughtfully designed spring lineup.
