Small Race Preview: 2017 Multnomah University Community 5k (Portland)

Participating in organized races is a fun, social part of an otherwise potentially solitary sport. However, race registration costs can add up quickly, so I’m always happy to find fun, no-frills events such as the Multnomah University Community 5k on February 11th. This race is organized by the cross-country and track&field teams, and it is part of the annual athletics alumni weekend.

The race starts and ends in front of the MU gym, and the course takes you through the adjacent neighborhood on paved streets and sidewalks. You are welcome to bring your dog (on a leash) or push a stroller during the race. All female finishers will receive a flower at the finish line, and awards are given to the top three finishers male and female.

When: Saturday, February 11; 9am
Where: Multnomah University (8435 NE Glisan St., Portland)
