Race Preview: 2016 Run for your Life 5k (St. Paul)

The 2016 Fight For Your Life 5k is back once again at French Prairie Gardens s in St. Paul at 10:30am on Sunday, September 25th. The race honors Emily Pohlschneider-Edwards through the Em’s Fight Foundation. Emily is the daughter of the owners of French Prairie Gardens who battled and ultimately lost a brave fight with a rare form of cancer.

The family is giving back with Em’s Fight, and since the race has been in existence, the proceeds of the race go to  local women with families in the community struggling with cancer. This money (your money – if you choose to run this race), goes towards “treatment, transportation to treatment, seeking the best doctor in their field or specialists, childcare, new clothing, rent, bills, help purchasing a wig, groceries, or a last family trip to form some amazing memories with their family.” It’s truly an amazing cause.

If you haven’t been to French Prairie Gardens, it’s a pretty cool place with lots of space. I attended their Berries, Brews, and BBQ’s a few months ago and remember thinking it would be a cool place for an event. Runners should expect a dirt course that traverses the property and countryside. All participants will be able to join in on the amazing Fall Harvest Festival (complete with 12 activity tickets to use and a beer to boot)!
