Race Preview: 2016 Run on the Runway 5K

Run on the RunwayIf you watch a lot of action/thriller movies like I do, you’ve probably seen scenes where someone chases after a plane that’s taking off a runway. (It even happens in real life!) It may make you wonder what it would be like to run on a runway.

You don’t have to wonder any more, not if you sign up for the Run on the Runway 5K in Hillsboro on August 7. In its third year, the race is part of the Oregon International Air Show, which lasts that entire weekend at the Hillsboro Airport.

The cheaper entry fee ($30 for ages 12+) gets you a tech shirt, finisher’s medal, chip timing, and free parking. The more expensive entry fee ($45 for ages 12+) gets you admission to the Sunday air show, which would otherwise cost $25.

As this race takes place on an airport runway, it is FLAT. Here’s how the race website describes it: “The 5K course will wind you around the airport runways and taxiways and send you out to places only planes can go!”
