Race Preview: 2016 Portland Parks & Recreation $5 5K Series – Gabriel Park

The course for the Portland Parks $5 5k at Gabriel Park.

There are still about 120 spots open for the next race in Portland Parks & Recreation’s $5 5K Series. I’d call the Gabriel Park course far from flat, but it looks like the worst hill in the park has been mercifully left off the route. If you’re reading this and aren’t yet signed up, I highly recommend you do so today as this race will likely sell out very soon.

This is the 3rd race of the $5 5k series; there are still races left at Laurelhurst, Westmoreland, and Pier Parks this summer. The races are chip-timed and there are a lot of fun things to do for families. A kid’s run takes place before the main event, and the 5k is actually FREE for kids age 17 and younger.

The course starts near the corner of SW Vermont and SW 37th. There is parking on SW Vermont, SW 37th down to Nevada Court, and across SW 45th on residential streets. There is a church over there, though, so please be considerate and carpool if you can. There are a few parking lots around the park as well.
