Race Preview: 2015 Friar Trot 5/16/2015 Sherwood, Oregon

Located in Sherwood, the Friar Trot is a great spring 10K/5K and one mile fun run or walk event. We are only a few weeks away, as it falls on May 16th. In fact, this is the last week to be guaranteed a race shirt if you register. All events begin and end on the St Francis campus, and go through quiet neighborhoods and a beautiful park. This is a non profit event, and 100% of the funds go to the St Francis School. They will also be collecting donations for the St Francis food pantry.

First off, the registration information. The fee for the 5K and 10K are both $40, which includes the shirt. The one mile is $15 and also includes the shirt. You can register online or mail it in. There is also the option of signing up at the Road Runner Sports location in Tualitin. Day of event registration will open at 6:30 and close at 7:45 before the race. Mail in registration must be postmarked by the 8th and online registration closes on the 12th.

The 5K and 10K both share the 8 am start time, with the 1 mile at 10. The post race festivities start at 8:45 and run until 11. The fun will include breakfast, music, and beer. All very good reasons to tie up the shoes for some fun in Sherwood. This could also be one of the last ‘cool’ races before the heat of summer, as the weather is still generally mild in mid May. A great course, a worthy cause, multiple distances and a nice location, there is little reason to miss this event, especially as they kick off their 10th year!
