Small Race Preview: 2015 Alien Abduction Dash

“I believe alien life is quite common in the universe, although intelligent life is less so. Some say it has yet to appear on planet Earth.”

– Stephen Hawking

You can be one of this planet’s smart lifeforms by registering for the Alien Abduction Dash, held on Saturday, May 16 in McMinnville. This low-key one-mile run is put on by the McMinnville Downtown Association and is run in conjunction with the city’s McMenamins’ UFO Festival (May 14-17).

There will be “obstacles” to navigate and kids are strongly encouraged to get out there and participate. I am going to be attending with my two girls and then stick around to take in the festival afterwards. The race isn’t expecting to be timed, but instead a good time to take the family and have a fun experience.

There are a variety of events that weekend, from a “Landing Party” (5/15 at 3pm) to UFO experts  (ongoing throughout the weekend) to the UFO Costume Parade and Pet Costume Contest (5/16 at 2pm and 4pm, respectively).
