Preview: Will Run for Food 5k and Kids Run in Troutdale

Darn my husband and his SOB 50k … if not for that, I’d be all over the Will Run for Food 5k scheduled for Saturday, July 26 in Troutdale. There’s also a kids 400m relay – kids can run up to four laps of the track in this fun run. Best of all, it’s only $20 and all adult participants will get a pint glass; the race organizers are also giving all runners and walkers finisher medals and swag bags. Oh, and … admission to the Bite of East County, a one day fund raiser and chance to sample a variety of nummy food.

A fund raiser for Zarephath Kitchen & Pantry, the Bite of East County features a variety of cuisines including Greek, Mexican and Korean. Serving hot food and providing food boxes for families facing a food crisis through East Multnomah County, Zarephath is a vital part of the community.

Here are the vitals:

When: Saturday, July 26, 2014

What time: The Kids Adventure Run is at 10:30a and the 5k at 11a. The Bite of East County Festival is open from 11a-7p.

Where: Columbia Park at 1900 SW Cherry Park Road in Troutdale

Register: Online here for the 5k for $20 and the Kids Relay for $10-$15

The 5k course is a simple loop, starting and finishing at Columbia Park in Troutdale. Starting out on SW Cherry Park Rd, the loop also runs on NE 242nd, SW 257th, and SE Stark St. Looking at the course map it really looks like a square, which will be nice – the course is broken up, without too many turns. The race is organized by Gresham Running Club, about which you can learn more on their facebook page.

The kids relay, run on a track, gives kids the chance to run up to four laps and earn a raffle ticket for every lap. After the run, there will be a prize drawing!

  1. Thank you so much for the preview! Just a heads up, and full disclosure, although the run is as described, the swag bag and the glass to runners is no longer being offered. Some personal issues of mine and medical distractions have minimized what I was able to do as far as giveaways for the run. Please, don’t let this detour you and your readers from coming out and running this fun, fast, competitive course with The Gresham Running Club!!!
