Leadman Tri Bend posts 250 and 125 course maps

leadman-tri-bend-buckleThe Leadman Tri in Bend is features three distances in 2014. As I have laid out before, the Leadman 250 is a 5K swim in Cultus Lake, a 223K bike course around Mount Bachelor, and a two-loop 22K running course around Tetherow Golf Course with a finish in NorthWest Crossing. The Leadman 125 cuts those distances in half. And the Leadman 85 will have participants completing a 1-kilometer swim, 75-kilometer bike and 8-kilometer run.

The course maps have now been posted and have gotten me even more excited to get out there in 6 months time. The descriptions from their site:

The Leadman 125 bike portion. The Leadman 225 course includes an additional out and back, as well as a larger loop. That map can be viewed at their website.

LeadmanTri Bend starts with a brisk swim in Cultus Lake. A deep, mountain lake at the base of Mount Cultus, it is filled with crystal clear water that is expected to be in the low 60s on race day. The 125 course will be one 2.5K lap along the shoreline, while the 250 course will consist of two laps for a total distance of 5K. Swimmers on the 250 course will exit the water after lap one and pass an aid station before returning to the water for lap 2.

One of the most scenic and challenging courses in the sport of triathlon, the LeadmanTri Bend [cycling] course offers spectacular views of the summit, several mountain lakes and the shores of the Deschutes River. The 150 course makes a partial lap around Mt. Bachelor via the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway. The 250 course climbs over the Bachelor pass not once but twice, with 1.5 laps around Mt. Bachelor. The 250 bike finishes with a 15-mile descent into Bend with one last steep climb up to Tetherow Golf Club and T2 at Summit High School.

The Leadman 225 running course. The 125 race is a single loop of this.

A spectacular [running] rolling course featuring one loop for the 125 course and two loops for the 250 course around Tetherow Golf Club with a dramatic finish in the heart of NorthWest Crossing. There is plenty for your family and friends to do at the finish line festival (farmers market, live music, wine bar — plus the Deschutes Brewery Beer Garden).

Descriptions of the new Epic 85 are still pending, but they will generally follow similar routes, with obvious cutoffs to make each leg shorter. We will keep you posted.
