Soak up the Sun with the Bolle Striver Sunglasses

It’s June, so that means sunglasses are part of the required uniform when you head outside. There are lots of brands and styles to choose from and though so much of what you opt for relies on personal preference, there are functional things about sunglasses that really matter.

Bolle has glasses for hanging around the pool, for riding in the car with the top down, and for all the sports where your choice could make the difference between a good day and a bad one – skiing, water sports, biking, and of course running. I was sent a pair of Strivers and they are just in time for some serious marathon training miles.

Looks & Fit:

Truthbomb: The style of the Striver is not the typical sunglasses I go for when I’m shopping for a new pair. I’m a big fan of aviator-style glasses but those don’t always translate well for impact sports like running. The Striver is a full coverage option that you see on a lot of runners, especially out on the trails. They provide wraparound coverage, so they will block sun from the sides as well as in front of you.

I received the Striver sunglasses in a color called Grey Crystal Black with a grey tint base and lens. The style also comes in Black Matte and Hunter Green Frost and those have a brown tint base and grey base tint. All of the glasses are a “medium” fit, which seems true-to-size for my head. I don’t have a big or small head, and these don’t slide down or feel tight around my ears.

Function & Construction:

The Striver is perfect for trail running. These have the ability to adapt to light as it changes, so even if you’re putting in miles as the sun is going down (or rising,) you’ll be able to see what’s going on in front of you. They are rated at a lens classification category of 3 out of 4, which means they will block 87% of visable light and are ideal for outdoor activities. They also provide 100% UV Protection.

The nylon construction of these sunglasses is slim and light, despite the heavy duty look that they have. The Thermogrip contact points on the nose and temples will ensure these won’t bounce or jostle when you’re moving, no matter the speed or intensity.

Overall/For Consideration:

Summer could be brutal if you’re wanting to stay active. Your sunglasses should be the last thing you’re worried about when you’re getting through that next race or long bike ride. The Striver sunglasses will check all the boxes with their lightweight construction, comfortable feel, and the ability to stay put no matter the activitiy. They will also protect you from those UV rays.
