Wing it Through the Woods at the Condor 25K

As runners, it’s worth remembering how lucky we are to lace up, hit the trails, and do what we love. The Condor 25K Trail Run is more than just a race—it’s a tribute to Dave “Condor” Bateham, a beloved figure in Oregon’s running community who passed away from complications following heart surgery. Dave was not only a talented long-distance runner, but also a generous volunteer, friend, and family man. Each year, participants honor his memory by running through the very forests he loved.

The 2025 edition will take place on Sunday, October 5th at 9:00 AM, starting and finishing at the OSU Forestry Cabin at Peavy Arboretum in McDonald Forest. The challenging yet scenic course covers rolling singletrack trails and some logging roads, with roughly 2,325 feet of climbing and descent. One highlight is “Dave’s Trail,” a section dedicated in his memory.

Runners will encounter two fully stocked aid stations along the route. Whether you’re a seasoned trail veteran or looking for a longer-distance challenge, the Condor 25K is the perfect blend of grit, beauty, and community spirit.

Proceeds will go toward local trail building efforts, Corvallis Mountain Rescue Unit (CMRU), and HOTV Sole Support shoe assistance program.

This is a race that’s “sweet” in every sense—beautiful trails, a supportive vibe, a meaningful cause, and the perfect fall running weather. Expect stunning scenery, a few lung-busting climbs, and an experience that’s worth every uphill step.
