Keep your Head Covered with Skida

A few years ago, someone was looking for headband recommendations on social media and several people recommended Skida. It was the first time I’d heard of them and when I went to their website, I was pleasantly surprised by all the headwear options as well as all the other accessories.

In addition to stuff to keep your noggin warm, you’ll find Skida has winter gloves, scarves, pants, vests, and even bandanas for your dog. Moreover, Skida has an enormous selection of patterns and colors, so you could really spend all day on their website shopping.

I ended up receiving the High Pile Fleece Hat in the color Aster (One Size) and the Alpine Hat in two patterns – the Daisy Jones and Retro Riptide (Adult M/L.) They were as beautiful in person as they looked on the website, in vibrant colors and unique patterns.

The High Pile Fleece is definitely a hat for the coldest of winter days, made with recycled Polartec Fleece. On my early morning runs, if it’s a day where there’s frost or ice on the ground, this is the hat I reach for. It’s available in lots of gorgeous colors and it would be perfect for a day up on the mountain for a skiing or snowboarding adventure as well.

The Alpine Hat is super fun, and when I was offered a choice in patterns, it was really hard to pick because there are many fun ones. The cheery colors of the Retro Riptide ultimately sold me, and the Daisy Jones design (created by Mexican-Swedish-American artist Wylie Garcia,) will go with most of what’s in my wardrobe.

The Alpine Hat is not as thick as the High Pile Fleece, but it’s much thicker than the average beanie. The poly-blend outer fabric is lined with a mid-weight fleece and it wicks away moisture well to keep you dry. They also have a UPF Rating of 50+. I plan to wear the Alpine Hat all throughout the current cold snap and through all of the winters to come.

All of Skida’s products were designed in Vermont and made in the USA. Also, Skida has a great Buy a Hat, Donate a Hat Program where they will donate a hat to a hospital to provide warmth to patients undergoing chemotherapy.
