From Sand to Summit: Checking out Items from Janji’s Desert Island and Mountain Collections

We have been reviewing Janji for quite a few years now, and one of the things we love most about them is their newly released collections with distinctive themes or partnerships. Recently, they introduced two new collections featuring unique styles and colorways: the Desert Island Collection and the Mountain Collection.

Mountain Collection

The Desert Island Collection features items that are more amphibious in nature. This gear is engineered with quick-dry, sun-protective fabrics, making it perfect for runners who love to swim. While the Mountain Collection, Janji’s first release of Spring/Summer 2024, introduces a running system designed for seasonal changes, varied elevations, and harsh conditions.

Desert Island Collection

Both shirts—the Repeat Merino Tee and Circa Daily Tee —strike a nice balance between casual wear and outdoor or running wear. They are super comfortable and soft, and can be used for running and fit a fantastic middle ground, making them perfect for cross-training, hiking, or just wearing casually this summer. The straightforward visuals ensure they wouldn’t look out of place at an outdoor barbecue or while strolling through the St. John’s neighborhood.

Repeat Merino Tech Tee

The Repeat Tee is a midweight running shirt that strikes a perfect balance between being light but not thin, and durable but not bulky. It’s a solid shirt with all the qualities you want for running.

This standalone running top features odor-resistant properties, making it ideal for long runs – or those short summer runs where avoiding sweat is impossible. I love wearing it for running and have also worn it all over the valley over the past month, appreciating its style, fit, and breathability.

M’s 6″ Omni Short

The Omni Shorts (pictured in green above) are an amazing option for the summer—we absolutely love these! They are unlined, making them perfect for crossover casual wear. They pair great with compression shorts for running or cross-training, but I’ve also worn them out and about, and they look and feel fantastic. Can you tell I can’t get enough of them?

These shorts are really lightweight and come with a zip fly button closure and an elastic tie. They also feature a water-repellant finish, making them ideal for unexpected summer showers or sweat-heavy activities (or maybe a beach run followed by an ocean dip). Additionally, the fabric offers sun protection with a UPF 50 rating, ensuring you stay protected during outdoor adventures.

The Omni Shorts come with plenty of storage options, including two side pockets, a zipped pocket within the left pocket, and one on the rear. They are super breathable, fit true to size, and come in a great colorway.

Multi Short 2-in-1 – Mountain

There was a time when I had no running shorts with liners, preferring unlined shorts coupled with separate compression wear. This has changed over the years, and now lined options are no longer a no-go for me. These two-in-one shorts are lined but harken back to a fit from my old days.

The inner provides slight compression and, at 8 inches, sits further down on the legs beyond the bottom of the outer portion. The outer short is lightweight (total weight is 5.1 oz for men’s M), made from four-way stretch nylon that wicks moisture and resists odor. It sits well, and the inner hasn’t sagged too much during workouts. There are also chafe-resistant seams.

While you may not notice it at first glance, there is plenty of storage in these shorts. There are actually five pockets around the waistband with a constructed mesh that keeps things held tight without bounce. There are also two pockets on the legs of the inner compression – one of which comes with a Nite Ize S-Biner MicroLock clip to secure keys.

Janji knocked it out of the park with these collections. This gear is top-notch. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
