I am a creature of culinary habit. I eat pretty much the same thing every day for breakfast (oatmeal and yogurt), have my lunch staples on hand (sandwiches and leftovers), and let me wife take the reins for dinner. I don’t typically mess around with what I like, as my work and home life is unpredictable enough (3 kids – including 2 teenagers = unpredictable to the max)!
Ever since I can remember I have eaten Jif Peanut Butter when the situation called for it. I don’t have any complaints about Jif, nor do I have a reason for this being my choice outside of it being a staple of my upbringing. But upon first taste, the stuff from BNutty really had me questioning my brand loyalty.
Benefits of Peanut Butter:
In a sphere that has us runners exploring different kinds of energy boosters, gels, and powders for optimal fitness, sometimes simple can be good. Peanut butter, at its core, was fueling runners for years before running became a true science-focused activity.
Peanut butter serves as an excellent fuel for runners due to its optimal combination of carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats. The complex carbohydrates provide a sustained energy release, while the protein aids in muscle repair and recovery. Additionally, the healthy fats in peanut butter contribute to a longer-lasting energy source, making it a convenient and nutritious choice for runners seeking endurance and sustained performance. I still rely on peanut butter as a part of a light pre-race breakfast because I want to feel satisfied on my run and have that energy as well.

This ain’t your momma’s peanut butter – but it was created by two soccer moms. BNutty is a gourmet peanut butter company known for its delectable and innovative flavor combinations. With a commitment to delivering a premium nut butter experience, BNutty has gained a devoted following for its delicious, artisanal products.
Taste:
I am not typically one for flavored condiments. I want my ketchup to taste like tomatoes, my mustard to taste like mustard seed, and my peanut butter to taste like peanuts. Mixing in funky stuff typically turns me off. I was sent six 9oz. size jars of peanut butter to try:
- Cinnamon Sugar Cookie
- Totally Toffee
- Blissful Blueberry
- Irresistible Pretzel
- Simply Salted Caramel
- Perfectly Creamy
I hesitantly started off my journey with the Irresistible Pretzel, an addition of pretzels and white chocolate pieces to accompany the peanut butter. Now I like peanut butter and honey as much as the next guy, but in the same jar? I just wasn’t convinced. UNTIL I tried it.
White chocolate is my favorite type of “chocolate”. Even with white chocolate chunks in the mix, I felt that it was pleasantly subdued. There was not an overwhelming chocolate taste, but it was definitely present. What I expected to be an overpoweringly sensory overload, was instead much more subdued and acted like a fun complement to the peanut butter taste. I was impressed.
After a few weeks of sampling flavors, I can say this holds up pretty true to all the flavors we received. The flavors are unique and the ingredients are all-natural and gluten-free if that’s your thing. There are over 18 flavors available, so you can definitely find something that you like. They even have Holiday options which could make for cool stocking stuffers.
I have enjoyed these one on bread/toast prior to runs, but with the diverse flavor profiles, there is something to be said about using these as a dip for crackers and fruit, or perhaps even on a celebratory post-long-run ice cream (he says as he runs to the store for a vanilla bean pint).
