Happy Friday! As I’m sure you’ve seen, the Leadville Race Series, including the Trail 100 and MTB 100 were cancelled this summer, due to COVID-19. However, the Leadville team has cooked up a new challenge for everyone to crush this summer. Introducing the Leadville 100,000 FT Challenge – a virtual climbing challenge that participants can complete on foot or by bike (or both) throughout the summer with 100% of proceeds from the event benefiting the Life Time Foundations’ local efforts in Leadville, funding the Lake County Public School’s COVID-19 Food Relief Program.

Registration will be through RunSignUp and is now open. Throughout the challenge you will track your elevation there and you can view your progress on a leaderboard. It is also encouraged to join the challenge Facebook Group to help build community conversation and maybe some healthy competition.

The Leadville team recognizes that this is a far more difficult challenge for those in flatlands compared to those in more mountainous terrain, but they are encouraging folks to get creative to hit your elevation gain (parking garage ramps, staircases, bridges, loops around a block with a steep hill, etc.).There will be additional fun merits and challenges throughout the summer including most climbing in a day, fastest and slowest to complete the challenge, most creative elevation gain and more.
