What Run Oregon is Wearing: Clothing from United By Blue

United By Blue caught my eye with beautiful outdoor apparel with gorgeous prints and designs, and when I read that all their clothing and accessories are made from recycled plastic and organic cotton, I knew I had to give them a try. Based in Philadelphia, United By Blue has made it its mission to have a positive impact on the environment, both by using recycled plastics and sustainably grown organic cotton, and by organizing and leading work days to clean plastics from beaches, out of oceans and other waterways. Each product sold helps remove one pound of trash from our waters.

The Parks Pennant Hoodie is one of my favorite new sweatshirts for the winter. The dark red heather fabric looks nice, the terry cloth is soft and warm, and raglan sleeves give it a really good fit. I enjoy the graphics on the front that mimic the design of National Parks posters. In my eyes, the white drawstring stood out a bit too much, so I pulled it out and may replace it with a darker color one. I have worn the hoodie a lot since I got it, and it has held up well and kept its shape through several washes.

The First Light Tee is another beautiful piece that looks elegant and casual; it is soft and comfortable to wear all day, looks dressy enough to wear to my work, and reminds me of the beauty of the outdoors. Finally, the Merino Wool Trail Socks are soft and warm, fit really well, and keep me comfortable all day. They come up to mid calf and are perfect to wear in boots during the colder months. I look forward to getting others in the fun patterns that are available.

Matt: I will echo Geli’s statement that these shirts are quite awesome. I checked out the Mountain Drift Tee and instantly fell in love. The graphic is a nice mix of modern, yet somehow still retro in it’s design and coloring (it comes in green and grey). It fits a little looser, which can be good or bad, depending on your preference. It’s really soft and looks great as a standalone piece, or as a layering option under a hoodie or light jacket. I’m very impressed with this stuff and continue to scour their catalog for awesome graphics that I NEED in my closet.

More About United By Blue:

We created United By Blue with the idea that a successful outdoor brand can do serious conservation work. This means everyone here at United By Blue is rolling up their sleeves and removing plastic bottles, styrofoam, tires, old appliances, you name it from creeks, rivers, beaches, and streams. We organize and host cleanups to make a measurable impact on the most pressing of environmental problems: ocean trash and plastics pollution.
