The 5th Annual Beaverton Sun Run takes place on Sunday, July 23rd and offers a 10k, 5k and Kids Dash. The race starts and finishes at ADAPT in Beaverton and guarantees a flat and fast course. ADAPT has a special place in my heart since I volunteered at Joe’s 5.o Birthday run there several years ago. Off the beaten path, it’s a perfect location being close in but not too crowded. The 10k kicks off at 8am, followed with the 5k at 8:10am and finally the Kids Dash at 9am. The course is an out and back loop and certified through U.S. Track and Field.
Starting at the ADAPT Training Facility in Beaverton, runners follow some residential streets to the Fanno Creek Trailhead. A peaceful trail with flowers blooming, trees of all sizes lining it, a little creek and even a bridge along the way. All of this in the center of Beaverton. Finishers will receive a medallion and part of the proceeds go to the Beaverton Rotary Club and organization that supports the local community. The race is capped at 300 participants, making this a perfect event for anyone looking for something on the smaller side, but still big enough to keep it competitive.
Both events are chip timed by Huber Timing and medallions will be handed out at the finish line. Plan to stick around a bit and celebrate, there are some fun sponsors with this run. Make sure to register early, since the race is capped and prices increase on July 3rd. Get out and discover the Fanno Creek Trail for yourself with the Beaverton Sun Run.
