Love Liberates Half Marathon and 5k Run/Walk is a great way to celebrate diversity. Runners and walkers coming together to encourage love and acceptance in a healthy and positive way. The Half Marathon follows the famous Mill Race, a creek that connects with the Willamette River, joins the Middle Fork Path and offers spectacular views. The Mill Race Path was constructed in 2016, is completely paved and includes modest inclines. There will be aid stations at miles 2, 5, 8 and 11 for the Half Marathon with water, Gatorade energy gels and KIND snacks. There will be a few race shirts available for purchase between 6:30am-7:45am on race morning, but they sell quickly so make sure to get there early if you want a shot. Shirts were available for purchase through May 15th, but they order a few extra, so quantities are limited.
Here is a great quote from the race director:
I personally believe that love does liberate and it causes me to be mindful of how I treat myself and others. I want to be open, compassionate and empathetic, especially among people with whom I disagree. The idea of circling back to love and asking ourselves, how can we express love in this situation, or that relationship, encourages all of us moving forward together. Love….it’s that simple!
