Clean like a man with Brickell Men’s Products

Run Oregon sometimes receives products to review. In this post, Run Oregon’s Matt Rasmussen provides some initial impressions on men’s products from Brickell Men’s Products.

After doing research on popular skin care, shaving and grooming products, we discovered they were mostly filled with toxic, synthetic chemicals. We knew with today’s technology, that all natural and organic skincare products could be more powerful than these synthetic products.

We were interested in using the best, most advanced men’s skin care & grooming products, but we could never identify with the branding or ads for most of the companies.

All the best skin care products seemed to be for the ladies and buying a men’s product from a traditional female focused company didn’t feel right.

These three reasons were the driving force behind creating the most effective skin care and grooming products for men. The guy who knows taking care of himself makes for a better overall life. We wanted something a guy could wear while leading a business meeting, playing some pick up football, or a night out on the town with a special lady.

I was sent a few samples to try out and here were my thoughts:

Impressions: I always like trying out new skin care and hygiene products. With every passing week, it seems like companies are bringing forward men-centric hygiene products to the market. We stumbled upon Brickell a few weeks ago as we “crossed paths” on Instagram somehow. While I am not completely an “all things organic” man, I do try my best to be conscious of what are in the products I try.

I do have relatively sensitive skin when it comes to soaps and hygiene products – certain kinds can leave me feeling itchy (mostly from mass-produced soaps). I have been trying out a few other all-natural and organic soap companies over the past 6+ months (to pretty positive reviews) and have made the decision that my skin needs to be without the additional chemicals.

All of the different scents in the “shower trio” seemed to merge together nicely. I felt that I was getting a nice common scent profile as opposed to a smattering of too many different smells The body wash makes a really solid lather, even if you aren’t using a washcloth or scrub. The aloe vera in the face wash definitely brought on a cooling feeling to the face – which may or may not be your thing. It wasn’t off-putting, and it’s not generally my thing, but it’s important to know that going in. Charcoal soap is something that seems to be a staple in many men’s hygiene lines, though My wife isn’t the biggest fan of charcoal soaps due to black residue that sometimes comes from soaps as well as sometimes an overpowering scents. I felt that Brickell’s soap did a good job at getting a deep cleanse without being harsh on my skin, as well as keeping the smell a little more subdued.

My favorite product was the face scrub. As can be seen in the picture above, it’s more like a gel (almost “slime-like” actually) and different from most scrubs I have had. Putting it on felt gentle on my face, and I could see this being a really good option for those who have more sensitive skin. And a little went a long way, as only about a quarter sized dollop is needed. As a result, a 2-ounce jar seems like it will last a while if using 3-4 times/week.

Obviously, the biggest drawback is the price. With each 2 ounce bottle costing over $10, it really requires a committment to the organic nature and positive qualities instead of falling back into cheaper and non-organic options.

Brickell also has a variety of other options – everything from shaving and skincare needs, to anti-aging products. Check them out on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and visit their Amazon store.
