Race Preview: 2016 Tulip Trail Run (Woodburn)

The 2nd Annual Tulip Trail Run takes off Saturday morning, April 2nd at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm outside of Woodburn. Expect mud, dirt, dazzlingly colorful tulip fields, mud, a hazelnut orchard, and mud! This is a very fun race through the farm on field trails and dirt roads, with 5k and 10k options. If it’s anything like last year it will be sloppy and slippery in spots, so bring shoes and clothes that you won’t mind getting dirty. And good traction is also a plus, as I found out last year.

The race is a fundraiser for the Oregon City High School track and field team, and team members will be volunteering. Many high school runners also take part in the race itself, so expect to see some speedy athletes sloshing along the course! The farm remains open to the public during the race, so while runners are enjoying the bright fields of tulips they can expect some cheers from the other guests.

With its unique and varied course, enthusiastic staff, and fun atmosphere, this was one of my favorite races last year.
