The Run TrackTown 5k benefiting CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) takes place on May 9th, the Saturday before the Eugene Marathon. Portions of the proceeds will go to CASA, which trains volunteers to be the voice for neglected and abused children as they move through courts and to foster homes. In addition to running the 5k, you can support the cause by buying a superhero cape, or you have the option to sign up as a virtual runner. (100% of the virtual runners’ donation goes to CASA, and virtual runners receive no race benefits.)
Runners will start their race at the corner of Agate and 15th Ave in Eugene, and after a loop through the neighborhood and the U of O campus they will finish on the track on Hayward Field. Superhero costumes are strongly encouraged. After the finish, all participants can refuel with a Krusteaz pancake/flap jack meal.
Each year, the Krusteaz Flapjack runs the race as well. Those who run faster than the Flapjack will win a year’s supply of pancake mix from Krusteaz. The Flapjack is fast! In past years there have only been 4-10 people who finished before him. New this year, for every runner who finishes after the Flapjack, Krusteaz will donate $1 to CASA.
