The Tabor Challenge was created to honor the memory of LTJG Thomas Cameron by rewarding exemplary seniors at Grover Cleveland High School with a college scholarship that will inspire them to achieve. We believe that encouraging young people to pursue higher education will empower them to make a difference in their community. Thomas embodied this belief; he showed us that scholastic and athletic success was the merit of formidable personal qualities, like leadership, integrity, smarts, passion and teamwork. Moreover, he inspired others to succeed by encouraging classmates, teammates, friends and perfect strangers—his lasting impact will not be forgotten.

Where Do I Pick Up My Packet?

We are hosting a packet pick-up at the LTJG Thomas J. Cameron Memorial Field House. The field house is located at the Cleveland High School sports field on 31st between Powell and Franklin Streets. The packet pick-up will be on Friday, April 8th^th from 4:00 – 7:00pm. Come grab your packet and see one of the important projects your race registration supports! If you cannot attend the event we will have your packet on race day ready and waiting for you. Please pick it up prior to 9:30am or wait until after the race is over.

Are Dogs Allowed?

Most definitely- the more the merrier. Dogs thrive on our course. But of course, we ask that you only bring your canine friend along if they play well with others. There is a lot of commotion, so it’s best to leave timid or rambunctious dogs back home. Please note that leashes are mandadory.

Where Is This Thing?

The starting line for the race is right by the information center in the park. If you head east up Belmont and take a right on 69^th you will run into this sign, which is where you will begin a short walk up to the event.

Is There A Bag Check?

There is no official bag check.

Where Do I Park?

We suggest parking as close to the entrance on 69^th and Yamhill as possible as we will be closing car access to the park to keep the roads clear for our participants.

When Does The Race Start?

The official start time of the Tabor Challenge is promptly at 10:00am.

May I Register The Morning Of?

Of course! In fact – bring a friend to register with you! We will take cash, card, and check. Please note that registrations after March 14^th are not guaranteed a shirt.

Will There Be Support On The Course?

Aside from the moral support of your peers we will have course volunteers cheering you on!

Are Strollers Allowed?

Strollers are permitted, but the course does have narrow trails and stairs. If that sounds a bit too challenging we will have an alternate short course that will remain on the road.
