Goat Mountain Gallop
March 12, 2022 @ 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM PST

Welcome to the 2022 Goat Mountain Gallop. After a two year Covid hiatus, the Goat is back with a new course, more race options and a spectator friendly start and finish on the track. Join us for the 37th running of the Goat Mountain Gallop.
The new course starts and ends on the track at Molalla High School’s Heckard Field. The 10 mile run is a two loop course and is open for runners only. The five mile run is open to runners and walkers and is a one loop course. For high school aged runners, there will also be a two person 10 mile relay with each runner running the five mile loop. This year’s Goat provides its participants with more race distances to choose from and just like the Old Goat, a challenging course.
Time: Races begin at 8:30 a.m. The course closes at 11 a.m. As always, the Goat Mountain Gallop supports the Molalla High School track and field and cross country programs, and your support is greatly appreciated..
Date: Saturday, March 12, 2022
Location: On the track, Heckard Field, Molalla, Oregon (on Eckerd Avenue between Main Street (Hwy. 211) and E. 5th Street
Races: The 2021 Goat will feature a 10 mile run, a 5 mile run or walk, and for high school runners only, a two person 10 mile relay (each runner runs a 5 mile loop). There will be a limit of 225 participants. The relay will feature competition in male, female and co-ed categories.
The Course: A copy of the map is included. The course is a 5 mile out and back loop which will be run twice by 10 mile and relay participants. In Goat Mountain Gallop tradition, there are hills. There are ample flat spaces too. The course begins and ends at Heckard Field.
Aid Stations: Water will be available at the start/finish area and at the 2.5 and 7.5 mile marks.
Awards: Custom awards will be awarded to the overall male and female 10 mile run winners, the overall male and female 5 mile run and walk finishers and to both members of the winning 10 mile relay team. We’re developing a custom item for all participants. We will be asking local merchants to donate items for random prize drawings. Your bib number will be your entry for the random drawings.
Safety: Runners and walkers are responsible for their own safety. The course will be run on the track, a paved trail shared by others out walking or riding, and city and county roads. Roads will be open to traffic at all times. Runners are expected to run on the left side of the road facing traffic while on city or county streets. There will be course monitors on the course to help with directions and staff aid stations. Signs will also be posted to warn motorists and others that there is a race in progress and to use caution.
For your safety, we strongly recommend that headphones and strollers not be used during this event.
