The 2014 McKenzie River Half Marathon is just 2 months away, so if you are planning to run this one you’ve got 2 things to do. First, get focused on that training. Second, register soon.

Valentines Day is tomorrow and if you are still looking for a gift for your runner sweetie or framily (yes friends and family) then look no further than the Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon. Forget the flowers and chocolate, this is sure to please (and most likely squeals of joy) when they open that box with this registration confirmation in it. Want to make it a little sweeter? The Oregon Wine Country Half Marathon is also…
Football season is over. Here’s a final little recap from the Zena Road Runs 15k, held on the morning of the Super Bowl XLVII.
Following is a message straight from one of the Champoeg 30K/10K race directors. Mark Takizawa, has a great preview of the event as well as a discount code good for the next two weeks…
I thought the Roaring Run at Roaring River would be a perfect opportunity to bond with my cross-country running 15 year old. Students only cost $5 and could choose between the 5k, 10k, or Half Marathon. Held in Scio, Oregon, there would be a mini road trip to get there and I envisioned the chatting on the road, enjoying the potato bar together at the end and making some memories together. February 1st arrived and…
The 15th Annual Cascade Half Marathon was not just another half marathon. It was a rebirth of sorts – a recommitment to running in the new year. I made some loft goals for my running life in 2014 which will provide a physical and mental challenge as well as figuring a way to balance family and work (both most important) with my running playtime. Anyone that knows me understands that I am a local brewery junkie. It’s just so hard not to be with delicious malty goodness being created in every corner of the state. Living in the Willamette Valley, it is equally easy to be a wine connoisseur. There are just so many wonderful and beautiful wineries in my backyard, it’s silly to not dive right into the tasting.
We started a new feature last week to highligh great group runs across the area. Like we mentioned last time, for those new to running, a group run can be a great way to get involved, learn more about gear and nutrition, find others at your pace, and learn about fun races in the area. Many times, people are a little nervous to join a group run – which is perfectly understandable. However, you’ll usually find…
New Year’s Day is my favorite holiday of the year. There is just something about starting the year off with a clean slate, with goals, desires, and the wonderment of thinking about what the next 365 days is going to bring. One of my personal traditions on each January 1 is the annual Hangover Run, put on by Run Wild Adventures.
My alma mater, Willamette University, is always on the cutting edge of cultural events in Salem. They host a variety of gatherings, speeches, and world renowned speakers and artists over the course of the school year. Each year, they honor Dr. Martin Luther King with a week-long series of events on campus. One of those events is the MLK Celebration Stride Toward Freedom 5k Run/ 1 Mile Run/Walk, held on Saturday, January 18.
