Why Einstein Energy Works for Oregon Runners

The taste here is top-notch—seriously, these might be one of the most delicious energy bars we’ve tried. The taste leans more toward candy-bar territory than typical trail fuel – fully satisfying even the most demanding sweet tooth.

That said, they aren’t meant to be a one-to-one swap for traditional fitness-focused fuel—each bar packs about 40% saturated fat. But for something that delivers both taste and protein (surprisingly hard to get right), you could do a lot worse.

If you’ve ever eaten a healthy bar that tasted terrible and left you craving something else, you know it defeats the purpose. Einstein Energy Bars strike a nice middle ground: on the trails, they’re fulfilling fuel; outside of running, they feel decadent—a little cheat that still gives you some good things.

These bars currently come in two flavors:

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Einstein Energy Bars aren’t trying to rewrite the laws of physics, but they do a solid job of turning tasty ingredients into usable fuel. They hit the sweet spot between indulgence and performance—enough protein and energy to keep you moving on the trails, with a flavor that actually makes you want to eat them.

For Oregon runners looking for something satisfying, portable, and just a little bit decadent, these bars make the grade. I plan on these making it into my Cascade Lakes Relay bag!
