Choose Your Own Adventrail at the Stub Stewart Trail Challenge

The Stub Stewart Trail Challenge is keeping it interesting for the October 5, 2025 event. It’s basically a choose your own distance trail run. The course is a 6.5 mile loop and, as in previous years, you have a choice of the Quarter Marathon (1 loop) or Half Marathon (2 loops).

Or even go big and try out a 3/4 Marathon (3 loops) and a Full Marathon option (4 loops.) No matter which distance you choose, it’s the same price. So, if you are feeling stellar – or less than stellar – on race day, you have the option of going longer or shorter.

The course for this event is challenging and varied. You will be running on both pavement trails and “unapproved road.” From rolling hills to challenging climbs, expect a little bit of everything. Typically, the trails can be quite muddy in October, so be prepared! Last year it was dry and beautiful on race day, so you never know! Read Run Oregon’s recap of the 2022 race here.

Racers, be aware that there is a $5 park permit for the L. L. Stub Stewart State Park payable by cash, check, or card. And, make sure to bring your own “drinking vessel”, as this is a cupless race. There will be 2 aid stations, but no cups available.

The top male and female finishers at each distance will be awarded the coveted Golden Truckers. All finishers will receive a Bivouac Racing mug and there will be food and beer available at the finish area. You will also have a chance to win some SWAG, so be sure to stick around just in case!
