Man, it’s finally heating up out there. Summer running in the PNW isn’t everyone’s favorite (trust me, I’ve heard the complaints), but it’s part of the deal. For me, though, summer running hits a little differently. My training tends to feel more relaxed—less about chasing speed and more about enjoying the ride and making it through the heat. It is summer, after all—we might as well have some fun with it.

Tracksmith’s summer collection gets that vibe. It always leans into a more casual aesthetic that matches both the joys and the challenges of warm-weather miles. We recently checked out a few new pieces from the latest drop.
UV Long Sleeve
It’s something that hits us all when the warm weather rolls in—we need to protect ourselves from the sun. When my dad was first diagnosed with cancer over 15 years ago, I had one of those wake-up moments. I knew I needed to take sun protection more seriously. But I was 26—young, still feeling invincible despite being a parent. Now at 41, with my dad having sadly passed, the lesson has landed with more weight since 2019: I really need to be mindful about this.
Even though I often run in long sleeves during the summer, it’s still mentally tough to get used to. Sunscreen is always part of my routine, but there’s something about the idea of long sleeves in heat that just has always just felt a little off. That said, I’ve been genuinely surprised by how far gear has come—especially Tracksmith’s UV Long Sleeve.
The fabric tech has improved so much that warm-weather long sleeves actually feel good now. This one’s lightweight, comfortable, and protective (50+ UPF, blocking 98% of UV rays), making it a great option not just for summer but also as temps start to dip in early fall. The collar is unique and makes this a great option to wear outside of running as well.
Run Cannonball Run Shorts
The Run Cannonball Run shorts strike a great balance between function and style. They fit true to size and offer a comfortable, versatile cut that works well across different body types.
Over the past few years, Tracksmith’s design has seen some subtle updates—most notably in the fabric of the outer. This year’s version uses a recycled nylon and elastane blend, replacing the previous micro-nylon construction. The result? A lighter, more streamlined feel that sheds the slightly thicker, “swimsuity” vibe of earlier versions.
These lined shorts are designed to bridge the gap between running shorts and swim trunks, and this latest update really leans into that hybrid identity. The lighter outer fabric makes them feel more like legit running shorts—whereas the previous version quickly got rotated into my swimwear drawer (which I still use and love, by the way).
Now, they’re ideal for casual runs, with the added bonus of being able to jump straight into the water and continue your day without a wardrobe change. That kind of versatility makes them a standout choice for anyone who likes to mix running with time near the water—or just wants a do-it-all summer short.
Founder’s Shorts
One of my favorite new additions this summer is the Founder’s Shorts—a meticulously crafted pair of bottoms that, honestly, I’ve been living in. Yes, they’re technically running shorts, but they’re really more of a hybrid—versatile enough for all kinds of summer adventures. That’s a common thread in Tracksmith’s summer lineup, and these fit right in.
Made with a four-way stretch Swiss fabric, they’re super mobile and also water-repellent, all while maintaining a clean, classic silhouette in Tracksmith’s signature navy. There’s a definite Northeastern vibe here (naturally), with a zip fly and button closure that adds polish—but don’t worry, the waistband is elastic, so comfort isn’t sacrificed. The 6″ inseam hits the sweet spot for me too.
They’re perfect for everything from performance to post-run errands, and they make packing light for summer travel a whole lot easier.
Tracksmith Eliot Runner
These are hands-down one of my favorite shoes out there. They work year-round, but with summer travel ramping up, they feel especially perfect right now. Stylish enough for the airport and versatile enough to pair with both shorts and jeans, they don’t just look good—they’re built for performance too. Packed with running tech, they’re more than capable of logging serious miles in comfort. The new Ivory/Dark Rose colorway is a stunning addition to an already impressive lineup.

Tracksmith’s summer collection continues to impress with pieces that blend performance and style in all the right ways. Whether you’re logging hot miles, hitting the water, or just soaking in the season, their gear is built to keep up—and look good doing it.
