FEATURED RACE Preview: 2025 Ultramook 50K & 30K (Tillamook)

There are a lot of things to be excited about with the Ultramook race. It’s a trail run, it’s an ultra, it’s in the ever-gorgeous coast range, it’s one of our featured races, AND it’s from our friends who host the Three Capes Relay. This event is to raise money for youth running via the Ultimook Track Club & Tillamook Distance Project.

On July 12th, choose from the challenging 50K option or the shorter 30K distance. The 50k consists of the 30K loop with an additional 20K loop. The 30K has 3,719 feet of total ascent, while the 20K section has an additional 2,762 feet of ascent, giving the 50K roughly 6,500 feet of climbing. Three coastal peaks (Stanley, Top of the World #1, and Top of the World #2) as well as the Tillamook Ridge will be part of the course.

About 3/4 of the course will be on abandoned logging roads and trails that are well-traveled by elk and other wildlife. The other 1/4 of the race is on remote, infrequently traveled logging roads. The 30K will have 3 aid stations and the 50K will have 6. Each aid station will have water, Gatorade, and food such as chips, PB&J sandwiches, oranges, bananas, candy, and first aid supplies. There will also be a vehicle parked at aid station 3 and 6 if there is a need for racers to drop from the race.

The cutoffs for the 50K is generous, but strict. The 30K loop must be completed in 6 hours and must make it to the last aid station (mile 25) in 8 hours. The finish line cutoff is 10 hours. Walkers are allowed in the 30K, but must make it to the last aid station (12 miles) in 5 hours. Racers will have drop bag access at aid station 3 & 6 (same location).
