2024 is fast approaching, much like a runner going downhill with no way to stop. Soon, it will be here and it will bring New Years races galore!! One such race is the Frostbite 5K/10K in Talent, which is tucked right between Medford and Ashland, in Southern Oregon. The area is known for running and boasts the oldest and most active running club in Oregon, known as Southern Oregon Runners (SOR).
The Frostbite Run got its start in 2008 and has been a staple ever since. And even with the cold weather that is typical for January, runners can expect a fast, fun race, due to a simple, flat course that is out and back for both distances.
While there may be a few speedy runners in the mix, the turnout is always fantastic for this event. Sometimes, over 250 runners toe the line! Part of the success for this race is the fact the cost is always very low (especially for the 10k).
So, if you’re looking for a fun, relatively inexpensive race to jump into for early January, check out the Frostbite!

COURSE DETAILS:
- 5k – Out and back on Foss Road.
- 10k – Takes the same route as the 5k but head RIGHT onto Adams Rd. run until you hit Colver Rd where you will turn left and you will run past Pioneer Rd. Turn around is right before Samuel Ln.
