Thanksgiving Day Previews: 2023 I Like Pie in Bend and Redmond Turkey Trot

If you are in Central Oregon on Thanksgiving, you’ve got a couple of great running options. I Like Pie in Bend, the Redmond Turkey Trot, and the Run Like a Turkey 5k in Prineville are all great choices! It’s a tough decision, so here are a few details to help you decide.

The Cascade Relays I Like Pie is in Bend’s Old Mill District and has the option of a 1.5 or 2.5 mile loop. Start time is anytime between 7:30 and 9:30 A.M., so you can easily make this event work with your schedule. All participants will get a “I Like Pie” beanie and afterwards there will be pie – of course! Proceeds from this Thanksgiving morning race will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Bend.

Entry fees for I Like Pie:

  • Adults (18 and older) –  $40
  • Youth (17 and younger) – $20

The Redmond Turkey Trot will be held at Sam Johnson Park. There will be a 5K and 10K option, as well as the Brace Place Kids 1K. The FREE kids race will begin at 9:00 A.M. followed by the 5K and 10K at 9:20 A.M.

All 5K and 10K runners and walkers will get a HooDoo Ski Lift ticket included with their registration! Register by November 12 and to be sure you get a Turkey Trot t-shirt too.

Proceeds from this event benefit local organizations and youth programs.

Entry Fees for the Redmond Turkey Trot:

  • 5K $30 (add $5 on event day)
  • ​10K $35 (add $5 on event day)

Lastly, you have the option of the Dad’s Place Run Like a Turkey race!! This annual 5k is held in Prineville and it’s a great family friendly event appropriate for all ages. Bring your strollers and well-behaved dogs! Punky and the Dad’s Place crew will be on hand with snacks, orange juice and hot coffee to get you going before your food coma later in the day.

Entry Fees for the Dad’s Place Run Like a Turkey:

  • 5K $30

Regardless of which Thanksgiving Day event you choose, you will be benefitting local organizations and having a whole lot of fun with your pre-turkey feast run! Enjoy the day!
