The 17th annual Give n’ Gobble 5k/10k takes place at Sherwood High School on Thanksgiving morning. This Sherwood traditional 5k run/walk and 10k run are open to participants of all abilities, and food and money donations benefit Helping Hands Food Bank.

The race starts and ends at the Sherwood High School stadium and runs mostly through neighborhoods on paved paths. Both the 5k and 10k start at 9:05AM and the 5k is mostly flat. The 10k leaves Sherwood southbound where you will encounter some hills on Brookman Rd and Sunset Blvd.

The run is a big fundraiser for Helping Hands Food Bank in Sherwood. Race participants will receive a free event t-shirt when they donate a bag of non-perishable foods on race day.

For updated information, you can also follow the event on Facebook.

Also on Thanksgiving, Run with Paula Events will be hosting the West Linn Turkey Trot Trail Race at Mary S. Young Park at 9:00AM. I attended this 3.8 mile race myself last year and it was such a great way to start Thanksgiving!! This race is mostly bark and dirt and contains two loops within the park.  There are some good challenging hills and a downhill finish.

There’s also a Kid’s Trot which starts at 8:45AM and this is a 1/2 mile out and back for kids ages 6 and under. Parents are encouraged to join their little ones for this event!!  Additionally, the RWP’s Turkey Trot Trail Race Virtual Option is available for this holiday race as well!!

All participants for this race are encouraged to consider bring a non-perishable food item to the race to donate to the West Linn Food Panty or to make a donation directly.

Register for this race now and you’ll get a Turkey Troy bistro mug – these are limited to the first 500 entries, so hurry!
