Perpetually Awesome at the Perpetua Coast 50k & 20m

I get FOMO whenever I’m writing about a Daybreak Racing event, as I know they’ll be beautiful, challenging, well-run, and truly capture the essence of PNW trail running. Coming up quickly on their calendar is the Perpetua Coast — Daybreak Racing on September 30th and October 1st (both still have spots open!) over in Yachats and the Cape Perpetua National Scenic Area.

Both distances will have sweeping coastline views as well as taking racers through miles of old growth coastal rainforest trails (and 50Kers will get a little beach running, too!).

In addition to a gorgeous course, included in the registration is a post-race meal and drinks, as well as a custom finisher award. You’ll also get live music, professional photography, parking, and the usual amenities. Registration does not cover a race shirt, hat, or other add-ons but these are always available at the finish line for race-day purchase if you change your mind after registering.

The 50k on Saturday has about 5,700 ft of climbing (and descending) in its lollipop course with 4 fully stocked aid stations. There will be a few small creek crossings on the beach section, a fast and flat section along the shoreline, then takes racers across Highway 101 into the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area for the dreamy singletrack. The 50K has a 9-hour cutoff at the finish line.

The 20M is on Sunday and has about 3,800 ft of climbing and descending. There will be 2 fully stocked aid stations. This event has a 6-hour time limit and the course will also take runners on a lollipop course in Cape Perpetua.

Land Acknowledgement: Daybreak Racing honors and recognizes that we gather for this event on the traditional lands of the Alsea peoples, who have been part of this landscape for at least 6,000 years, with Yachats and Cape Perpetua bearing much evidence of this rich history.

For more race details like maps, elevation profiles, aid station locations, etc. check out their website. And be sure to follow them on social media (Facebook | Instagram) to see their other incredible races coming up throughout the rest of the year and into next already!
