Race Preview: 2023 Timberline Marathon & Half Marathon

If you were wanting to partake in one of the most scenic races in the Pacific Northwest, you’ll want to check out the 2023 Timberline Marathon & Half Marathon. This two day event will take racers along a single track course circling beautiful Timothy Lake, and offering up extraordinary views of Mt. Hood. There will be two half marathon options, one taking place Saturday, June 10th; the second option taking place Sunday, June 11th. The marathon will take place Saturday, June 10th.

The start and finish for all races is at Clackamas Lake Ranger Station. Bag check will also be available at the start/finish area.

The course is full of small elevation changes and twists and turns, and will have runners traverse three rustic bridges over sparkling tributaries that feed the deep blue waters of the lake. A full course map can be found here: COURSE MAP

There will be three aid stations on the course (six for the marathon) with water and Gatorade, as well as at least one portable toilet, (please don’t use campground toilets.) There will not be food. Participants should plan to carry their own nutrition and hydration supplies but will be able to refill hydration containers at the aid stations.

Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers. Age groups awards will also be presented to the top three finishers in each age group category. All participants will receive a technical shirt and a custom finishers medal.

Please note: You must be able to complete the course within 7 hours for the marathon and 4 hours for the half marathon for safety reasons. Walkers are not permitted to register for the marathon due to course support constraints, however, walkers are welcome in the half marathon. Additional course details information can be found here.

Event parking is located along Skyline Road 42 just south of Clackamas Ranger Station near the start/finish area. DO NOT park in any campgrounds unless you are a registered guest. DO NOT park anywhere along Skyline Road 42 north of Clackamas Ranger Station or your vehicle will be towed.
