Performance & Style are Combined with Fractel Headwear

Fractel is a headwear company that produces high-quality hats for individuals who are passionate about an active lifestyle. The story of its founding is actually quite cool:

Matt has always been a passionate runner, and it wasn’t until he was diagnosed with an eye condition that prevented him from driving did he realise the real benefit of being outdoors and commuting by foot. With a greater appreciation for the small things in life, running became more than just beating the clock. Finish lines are great, but it was the process, shared with your mates that became the motivation to get up and run day in day out.

The company is committed to creating products that are eco-friendly and socially responsible. They source materials that are sustainable, and they donate a portion of their profits to various charities that support environmental and social causes.

So, what about the name “Fractel”. Here’s more:

Fractel originated from the term ‘fractal’. A fractal can be defined as an infinite pattern and is often used to describe natural features such as trees, rivers and mountains. This connection with the natural environment and potential to be infinitely occurring was the inspiration behind the name. Our logo is the simplest version of a fractal. Starting from a single origin, two branches grow. This principle of endless iterations can be applied to all aspects of life. We want to replicate this theory and show the world that with one idea, anything is possible.

Fractel’s products are designed to meet the needs of individuals who enjoy outdoor activities such as running, hiking, and cycling – though we are partial to the first one. They recently sent us a couple to try out:

Fractel has a few different hat options, but the M-Series is the classic option. There are a ton of colors and styles to choose from. The ones we were sent were definitely lightweight and breathable – as well as comfy with the embedded sweatband. They are an excellent choice for anyone who is looking for a high-performance hat that is both stylish and functional.

Bucket Hats (B-Series) seem to be in a bit of a running resurgence lately (thanks to Brad Pitt in Bullet Train?!). Fractel’s Bucket provides a classic style that has been updated for the runner. They are lightweight, and come complete with moisture-wicking materials. The brim is wide (duh) and provides sun protection for the face and neck. The added touches of a sweat-wicking headband (with motivational phrasing!) and a drawstring that allows you to adjust the fit to your liking.

Fractel’s Legionnaire hats (L-Series) are probably their most unique products. It looks like a hat initially, but is actually designed to provide sun protection. Itt features a long flap that covers the neck and ears, as well as a sweat-wicking headband and mesh panels for ventilation. This makes it perfect for long runs on the trails where you are going be without much shade coverage, or really any run where you need due diligence on sun safety. It’s a running hat first and foremost, but this could be a great option at a summer baseball game or even mowing the lawn as well.

All Fractel options are really great for runners. As noted, we really appreciated the lightweight, breathable, and moisture-wicking construction, making them ideal for use in all kinds of weather conditions. They fit great and operate as we expect from quality headwear.

While there are a variety of running hat companies out there (and we have reviewed a variety of great ones), Fractel really is committed to sustainability, quality, and social responsibility. Their products are working each and every day to be constructed from materials that are eco-friendly. Fractel also is a part of 1% for the Planet – demonstrating their commitment to giving back to society. People who purchase from Fractel can feel good knowing that they are supporting a company that cares.

Summer is here, and that means excess sweat and sun. If you are looking for some new hates to tackle the miles, Fractel is a company that you can feel good about supporting.

About Author

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
