Less than a month from the return of the 2023 Shamrock Run Portland!

If you’re feeling lonely (as I am sure we have ALL felt in the past few years specifically), join likely thousands of your closest friends at the 45th Annual Shamrock Run on Sunday, March 12th in Downtown Portland. As always, choose from a variety of distance options including the Shamrock Stride (4-mile walk), Shamrock 5K, Shamrock 8K, Shamrock 15K and Half Marathon. And for the kiddos, there’s a 1K Leprechaun Lap.

The race for each distance starts at Tom McCall Waterfront Park  in downtown Portland. The longer routes will have you running through downtown Portland up the scenic (and thigh-buster) Terwilliger Blvd where you will have to stop and take a self to celebrate your tenacity for getting up that hill. Because this is a popular event, it’s recommended you take public transit rather than drive as parking is limited. It’s also recommended you arrive at the race 40-60 minutes early and line up in the appropriate per-mile race pace assembly area.

The weather is always iffy during the Shamrock Run so make sure to dress appropriately and enjoy the enthusiasm of your fellow runners and walkers at the after party.

Pick up your race bib and packet at the Shamrock Fitness Fair at Oregon Convention Center:

  • Friday, March 10 3pm – 7pm
  • Saturday, March 11 10am – 4pm

There will be a variety of vendors there to help you get into the running spirit and purchase any last-minute gear you might need.

Afterwards, the beer garden is returning with beer (duh), complimentary oatmeal, and a ton of fun.

The Shamrock Run is Portland’s most popular run and one every runner in the area should have on their bucket list.

We started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. We also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support local race organizers.
