The Stub Stewart Trail Challenge is mixing things up for the 2022 event. It’s kind of a choose your own distance trail run. The course is a 6.5 mile loop and in previous years you had a choice of the Quarter Marathon (1 loop) or Half Marathon (2 loops.) This year they have added a 3/4 Marathon (3 loops) and a Full Marathon (4 loops.) No matter which distance you choose, it’s the same price. So, if you wish to run more or less loops on race day, you have that option.
The course for this event is challenging and varied. You will be running on both pavement trails and “unapproved road.” From rolling hills to challenging climbs, expect a little bit of everything.
Racers, be aware that there is a $5 park permit for the L. L. Stub Stewart State Park payable by cash, check, or card. And, make sure to bring your own “drinking vessel”, as this is a cupless race. There will be 2 aid stations, but no cups available. The top male and female finishers at each distance will be awarded the coveted Golden Truckers. All finishers will receive a Bivouac Racing mug and there will be food and beer available at the finish area. You will have a chance to win some SWAG, so be sure to stick around just in case!
