Community Fun, Community Power: 2022 The Great Pumpkin Run (Corvallis)

I’m about to spoil a 56-year-old movie, so consider yourself warned…

In It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, Linus spends most of the movie waiting in a pumpkin patch for The Great Pumpkin to arrive with presents for the good boys and girls. After missing all of the trick-or-treating and the Halloween party, his friend Charlie Brown comes to retrieve him out of the cold, dark night and get him safely home. Linus believes that he just has to find a better garden next year, while the viewer knows that he has a great friend who will come rescue him again (just in case).

We all need help sometimes, and Home Life is a wonderful program getting help specifically for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Our Vision

  • Choices for all. Barriers for none.

Our Values

  • We believe that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities:
    • should be treated with dignity and respect, and should be involved in decision-making that affects their lives;
    • should be encouraged to live as independently as possible within a safe, healthy environment that fosters growth; and
    • have many capabilities, are valuable, and contribute to the community.

And through The Great Pumpkin Run, participants can be helpers too. Runners and walkers, friends and family members can choose from the 5K or 10K loop options that start and end at Benton County Fairgrounds. And kids have the extra fun option of an obstacle course for just $5.

No matter the distance, everyone should participate in the costume contest by taking your photos in advance by emailing in the photo or tagging @homelifeinc and #GPRCostumes2022 on Facebook. Winners will be announced on site at the race.
