With the onset of fall comes the annual Regatta Run in Tualatin. This 5K coincides with the annual West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta, an event you don’t want to miss. Believe it or not, the Pumpkin Regatta is a competition of rowing giant pumpkins across a lake like they are boats! So you can run a 5K, watch people try to control giant floating pumpkins, and enjoy the many other festivities being held that day in Tualatin.
The Regatta Run is flat and fast starting in Tualatin Community Park and running through both Durham Park and Cook Park for some scenic fall views.
“All net proceeds will support Tualatin Rotary’s first-generation college scholarships at Tualatin High School and opportunities for school-aged children in our community. This event was founded in memory of Marine Corporal Matthew Lembke, a 2005 graduate of Tualatin High School who lost his life while serving in Afghanistan. His sacrifice and service has inspired us to support youth and their future potential.”
Last year this event raised over $30,000 for scholarships!
I’ve definitely got this race on my list! Running through parks, then enjoying various fall festivities and crazy pumpkin events nearby sounds like an enjoyable day to me. If you haven’t had the chance, it’s time to get this one on your list too!
