Shhhh – the Secret Beach 100k / 50k is coming to Gold Beach

All Terrain Adventures has taken over the reins for the Secret Beach 100k, 50m and 50k – a race formerly ran by Rainshadow Running. The ultra distances for this race will be both challenging and stunning, as routes will take runners on sandy beaches and bluffs hundreds of feet above the waves, as well as old growth forests and sand dunes covered in tree tunnels.

Both of the longer routes will be out and back course that start at Pacific Reef Resort in Gold Beach. The 50k is a one-way that starts at House Rock Viewpoint, Samuel Boardman State Park near Brookings.

Enjoy mostly single track terrain with about 5 miles of road running on the shoulder of Hwy 101 and about 16 miles of sand running. This will not be an easy or fast race for many, and the elevation profiles and course map will show you many reasons why. The 100k has about 12,400 ft of elevation gain and loss, and the 50 Mile has about 9200 ft, and the 50k a “paltry” 6500 feet.

Both the 100k and 50M race will begin at 7a and will have a finish line cut off time of midnight – 17 hours. The 50k starts at 9am and allows 10 hours to finish. Check the website for specific aid station cut off times. There are4 aid stations for the longer distances and 2 for the 50k, so you will likely need to plan ahead with a crew or self-carry.

Drop bags are allowed at any or all of the aid stations, as well as pace crews for only the longer two distances. Pacers are allowed for the entirety of the 100k and the 50M pacers can pick up starting from Myers Beach when runners go through the second time.

Your reward for your hard work is the post race part – held at the Pacific Reef Hotel Property down by the beach. Food and drink will be provided for participants and volunteers, and awards for all finishers will be received – as well as top three males and females.

This event will be epic, so don’t miss your chance!
