Everyone who has driven east on Highway 22 towards Bend from Salem has seen it – that big mountain with the ski lifts on it. I’m sure that many runners have dreams of running it, because why not? With The Hoodoo Challenge it’s not only possible to run it, but to summit!
The half marathon event follows scenic trails up, up, up (just over 1000 feet up) and comes complete with views of Island Lake, Link Lake and Sand Camp Lake. You will also cross the PCT as well. Following the climb, be prepared for a mile long decline – a solid cool down period. But fear not, there will be a post-race party at the Hoodoo Lodge awaiting your successful summit. And, don’t forget, the top male and female finishers for the half marathon will win a season pass to Hoodoo.
If you aren’t feeling like an uphill half marathon, but you’d still like to enjoy those views, there will also be a 5K that starts at the Hoodoo parking lot and ends at the top of Hoodoo.
All participants will receive race socks and a 2-for-1 lift ticket voucher for Hoodoo with their entry. Dri-fit race t-shirts and trucker hats are also available for purchase when you register.
This race is once again being put on by the Sisters Kiwanis Club and all proceeds go to charity.
