During a recent trip I saw a quote that stuck with me: “When it rains look for rainbows; when it’s dark look for stars.” Those words come to mind again today as I learn more about the Ladybug Run for CDH Awareness. This race brings together the joys of running to help support those going through struggle as their little ones are hurting. Stars, rainbows, and ladybugs…
“The proceeds from the race go to the Ladybug CDH Foundation whose mission is to help raise public awareness, fund medical research, and provide direct assistance to families in the Pacific Northwest with children affected by Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), a potentially fatal congenital birth defect that affects 1 out of 2,500 children born every year.”
The Ladybug Run has 5K and 10K routes utilize the beautiful trails of Cook Park in Tigard along with portions of surrounding neighborhood streets. The starting line will be open for 20 minutes to provide space for a staggered start to help with safety. All participants start with the same loop, then the 10K takes another trail rather than looping the same twice. All participants earn a medal and shirt for being part of the event and the support team. For those folks who are not able to join the race in person, join in through a virtual race whenever and wherever you are.
Watch this video from a few years ago, and then look into how you can be part of something really good.
