Running in the Footsteps of Legends: 2022 Eugene Marathon is Upon Us

Although debates about beavers and ducks rages throughout the football and basketball seasons, for one lovely day in spring, we should all want to be a duck! The Eugene Marathon, along with the 5K and Half Marathon, is the chance for everyday runners to cover the same streets and trails as world-class athletes. And to finish on Hayward Field to the cheering of all your fans (and all the fans for the other finishers too).

I’ve completed the marathon course twice, and other than one nasty hill, loved course and especially that epic finish line. The longer distances will take participants into the city for the first nine miles then through parks around the Willamette River for their remaining miles before finishing back at University of Oregon.

The Marathon is the signature Eugene Marathon event. Participants run in the footsteps of legends like Steve Prefontaine, Raevyn Rogers, and Ashton Eaton as they experience 26.2 magical miles of Track Town USA. Join thousands of cheering fans and participants from around the world and experience the magic for yourself!

Race weekend in Eugene starts out with a Health and Wellness Expo on Friday, April 29th (which is also open on Saturday, April 30th). All participants must go to the expo to get their bib number or pay an extra fee for race day pick-up. The staff puts on a great expo with lots of vendor booths, space and guidance for stretching, and temptations to try something new on race day (Fight that temptation! Get the new top to wear AFTER the race).

The Kids Duck Dash and 5K events are on Saturday morning, with the marathon and half marathon starting Sunday morning. That leaves participants with a couple of choices for which distance to complete. Or rather which distances. By taking part in the 5K and either the half or full marathon, finishers conquer the Krusteaz Doublestack Challenge for extra bling and extra glory.

Quack that Race!
