Race Preview: 2022 Bend Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k & 5k

The Bend Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k & 5k is back! This year, the event will be held on April 10th, 2022. If you’ve never done this one, it’s perfect for Marathon Junkies who have already run Portland, Vancouver and Eugene, as well as a great destination option, for anyone looking to run their first Marathon.

If you’re looking for more of a family-friently even, there’s a family 5k option or a free kid’s race (1-3k) where the kiddos can decide how many laps they want to run in the Old Mill West parking area. Check out the details here. If you’re still not quite comfortable for “in person” races, there are virtual options for all the distances as well, and you can do the virtual challenge from April 1st to May 31st.

The views should be spectacular. Beginning in downtown Bend, the marathon will run through city parks, along the new paved trail through the Deschutes National Forest parallel to the Cascade Lakes Highway. It’s a very similar course to the 2019 course, though always subject to change. If you want to do a bit more research on the course for this year, check it out on the website here.

The Bend Marathon, now in it’s 7th year, is hosted by Kari Strang, a healthcare consultant and middle school Cross-Country coach, and Max King, a professional runner for Salomon. Both of them reside in Bend with their families and will offer you a great race experience.

Registration is available on the Bend Marathon website as well as below and you can stay up to date with Bend Marathon announcements on their Facebook page. Early bird prices end after November 15th, so don’t delay. Mark your calendar, invite your friends and pick out your training plan. The Bend Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k & 5k should be beautiful and a great excuse to get away for a weekend.
